Top VPNs United Arab Emirates Review 2017 – PC/Android/Mac/Gaming

Greetings! My name is Nav Nav AshgarAshgar and I’m an IT student from Abu Dhabi. When I enrolled at ALHOSN University three years ago, I made a lot of new friends, many of whom were surprised to learn how much I already knew about computer technology.

By far, the most common thing I was asked about was VPNs (Virtual Private Networks). I created this site because I wanted to find a way to spread the word about VPNs to the general public. In particular, I wanted to tell people about the best VPNs in the Emirates.

My friends have sometimes come to me and complained about connection problems with the VPNs they subscribed to. They come to me because they know I’ve tested out most of the VPNs on the market and I know which ones are reliable and which ones leave something to be desired.

As you may have heard, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan issued the UAE Cybercrime Law No. 5 which strictly penalizes people who perpetrate cyber attacks. But as we all know, criminals flout the law every day and the public remains vulnerable to identity theft and stolen information.

Luckily, we do not need to feel so vulnerable thanks to the VPNs available to Emiratis nowadays. There is a wealth of terrific services out there that put privacy and security back in the hands of the people who deserve it.

Below, I will share with you my top picks for the best VPNs in the United Arab Emirates.

I should start this off by saying that I’ve only used one VPN on a regular basis over the last year, although I’ve tested many others to see how they stack up. ExpressVPN is my absolute favorite and it’s a mainstay when I’m surfing the web or streaming content.

Avoid Free VPNS - Don't Have Your Info Sold to 3rd Parties
I would strongly recommend not utilizing free VPNS servers for some simple reasons. User data is routed through a central hub that collects and aggregates information. This information is then sold to 3rd parties. User information is commoditized and sold to pay for the “free” VPN. If you’re not looking to spend money on a VPN, I would suggest simply not using one.

1. ExpressVPN—Fastest/Most Secure

Express VPN LogoThis one is wayed fast and wayed reliable. You can try it risk-free for 30 days thanks to their money back guarantee and believe me, you won’t want your bezat back once you’ve used it.

With quick, consistent speeds, 24-hour live customer support, Netflix compatibility and superior app design, you can’t beat it. You get optimal security and performance in a one-size-fits-all package that allows users to manually select OpenVPN over PPTP and SSTP.

Express features a network lock that protects against DNS leaks and can serve as a kill switch as an added contingency. Express is an attractive choice among users who rely on cryptocurrency like Bitcoin to pay for software. You can also pay via PayPal, credit card or other forms of cryptocurrency.

Their plug-and-play interface is truly remarkable, relying as it does on an activation code that you then input to each of your devices for individual protection. While users can opt to alter the standard settings in the options menu, the plug-and-play settings make it easy for noobs to enjoy the service without advanced knowledge of VPN protocols and the like.

2. VyPr VPN—The 2nd Best VPN Solution for PCs and Android

Vypr VPNCombining a well-designed desktop app with cutting edge performance, VyPr VPN easily blows away much of the competition. It is also the budget VPN in the Emirates, giving the frugal Emirati all of the security and high-tech features of other VPNs at a fraction of the monthly price.

All of their plans offer unlimited data usage and their Premium package allows for a whopping five simultaneous connections, meaning everyone in your family can use the service on their respective devices.

The app features large text that’s clear to see and easy to comprehend. The oversized connection button at the top of the window ensures that you will be connected to only the fastest of servers.

VyPr VPN supports the three biggest security protocols (PPTP, OpenVPN and L2TP/IPsec). On top of that, it allows P2P Torrent traffic which you’ll soon realize is a big deal as some of the crappier VPNs out there disable your account if you attempt to download Torrents or other video content.

3. Pure VPN—A Good Runner-Up

Pure VPN LogoWith split tunneling, round-the-clock live chat support, DdoS protection and five simultaneous connections, Pure VPN is another viable option for Emiratis who are looking for a reliable VPN.

Their 2-year plan is the cheapest plan on this list, but keep in mind that it only comes with a 7-day money back guarantee so buyer beware.

That being said, Pure VPN is a fast, fully-featured service with apps available for everything from Android and iOS to Windows and Linux. One of the things I really like about this one is that users can pay anonymously for the service with a Starbucks gift card. For those seeking that extra level of security, this is the way to go.

You can select a server by location, browsing by continent, country or city. What’s more, it is the only truly global VPN in that they have servers on every continent save for Antarctica.

4 – HideMyAss—Hide Your Ass from This Server

HideMyAss LogoI’m not kidding, this is a VPN that should be avoided by everyone. They claim to have a “no logs” policy, but this is not the case. In fact, the London-based company were publicly outed for leaking IRC chat logs when the FBI served them with a court order demanding logs in 2011.

Since then, users have posted all over the Internet about how their logs had been kept and many have alleged that they sell users’ personal information to third party advertisers.

As if that’s not bad enough, HMA also disable user accounts without warning, shutting people out when they attempt to download videos or BitTorrent. When the marketplace is saturated with great VPNs in the Emirates, there is absolutely no logical reason why consumers should purchase HMA. They’re simply not on the level and not worth the money.

I do not like this service one bit. There is no ad blocker and no guarantee that they won’t sell your information to third parties. They keep session log records and they often disable user accounts at will. Qamama.

What is a VPN?

how-vpn-protects-youIf you’ve gotten this far, you most likely know exactly what a VPN is, but for the sake of educating my visitors, I’ll cover this now. VPN stands for Virtual Private Network, a service that enables users to hide their IP address and access their electronic devices without running the risk of being spied on or targeted by malicious cybercriminals.

Why Do I Need a VPN?

If you’re reading this, you obviously like to surf the web and research technology. Now you can do all of that and more in absolute privacy. No longer will prying eyes be able to see what you are doing or target you in any way. VPNs give users the security and protection they deserve.

how-encryption-worksWith Facebook and Apple already going out of their way to make money off our personalities and preferences by commoditizing our every post or conversation, there is no reason that we shouldn’t all demand a bit more privacy. VPNs put that power in your hands.

Are VPNs Safe To Use?

Definitely. VPNs are designed to be safe, secure and effective. Just make sure you do your homework on a VPN before you purchase a plan.

Final Thoughts

I hope that my site has helped my fellow Emiratis to find a VPN that will work for them in our native UAE. Whether you’re viewing sports-related content, travel pics, conspiracy blogs or sensitive business-related information, you should be able to cover your butt with these solid VPN solutions.

If you’re from the UAE and you know of any other good VPNs, hit me up. I’d love to learn more and help others to learn more as I build up the site. I continue to test out VPNs so that I can warn you about the lesser ones available and tell you more about the best VPNs in the Emirates. Cheers!
